Street wandering in Cuzco 15 May 2015

First Day

Road sign with characteristics

I visited the market Mercado Central de San Pedro

In the market, I bought lots of fruits - one apricot, one taste like melon, a pomegranate, and two granadilla (first time to taste this fruit)

Strolled in the streets, and saw this impressing wall painting

Ceramic wall of the city

View near Plaza de Armas

Iglesia La Compañía (Church of the Society of Jesus)

Nice flower bed in Plaza de Armas, in the middle of old city (Centro Histórico) of Cusco

La Cathedral

Awesome tourist spot - Plaza de Armas

Second Day

Calle Hatunrumyioc
One block up from El Triunfo, on the corner of Calle Hatunrumyioc, literally 'the Street of the Big Stones', and Calle Palacio is the Museo de Arte Religioso del Arzobispado.  This Moorish building with complicated carvings on its doors and balconies was constructed on the site of the 15th-century palace of Inca Roca, under whose rule Cusco's schools were initiated.

On the way to Sacsayhuaman, I passed through the exterior of the museum, once an Inca palace, is the famed piedra de los 12 ángulos (12-angled stone) fitting flawlessly into the wall.

Iglesia de San Blas
A simple church by Latin American standards, has a beautifully carved pulpit, said to be one of the world's finest pieces of woodwork.

Saturday market
The streets around San Blas form Cusco's artists' quarter, with galleries, studios, and small shops, hostels, and restaurants, and the workshops of the prolific Mendival family.
