Flight to Cuzco
Quite nervous if there could be any hiccup to get to the airport, after the police action against the strike night before.
Thanks for the Backpacker Hostel, a taxi could be reserved and the roads were clear. I could manage to reach the airport 2 hours before departure.
I was assigned a window seat, however, it was occupied by an old lady and she did not want to return to her seat, ha !
Cuzco under clouds
City Background
Cuzco (11,500 feet above sea level) is a necessary stop on my journey to Machu Picchu. This former Inca capital is gorgeous, and packed with fine restaurants, hotels, churches, and museums. It serves as the base stop for day trip to the Pisac market and Ollantaytambo, in the Sacred Valley, and to the Amazon Basin.
Plaza de Armas (with cloudy sky)
Have lunch on a rustic second-floor terrace with stucco walls and high-beamed ceilings above the Plaza de Armas.
Coca tea was ordered to reduce the symptom of high level illness, though very mild for me.
Anticuchos: Marinated grilled beef heart and kidney (barbecue), really nice
Milhouse Hostel
This is a hostel highly-recommended in hostelbooking.com
It is really a good place to stay, providing private room and shared dorm, helpful reception and a counter for tour arrangement. Friends from all over the world could be met here. Relax environment (with bean sofa) for reading, chatting and go on-line.
City view on the roof-top cafe in the hostel
Inspiring message in the rooms
A relaxing evening with pizza and Inca Kola (like Sweep in HK) at the cafe on roof-top
