Trek in El Chalten 26.11.2018

I joined a trekking tour El Chalten which departs at 7:00 a.m. every day.  However, I waited until 7:40 a.m. when the pick-up van arrived.  They explained it was due to vehicle problem.

It started with a cloudy day.  We traveled along Lago Argentino and had a brief stop on the lakeside.

We were heading towards Friz Roy

The tour guide dropped a few of us at the information centre as they needed to transfer other guests to their hotel.  We could have some time to walk around and took pictures.

El Chalten

Cornered between jagged peaks, and sow-laden valleys, El Chalten (known as the capital of trekking) is the perfect base for one- and two-day treks in the area.  Follow the signs from the edge of town and in less then 30 minutes you'll be completely alone on a mountain pass overlooking deep blue lakes and fertile valleys.  Return to your hostel and relax in one of the lively restaurants in town.  The treks range from easy to challenging.  The best day walks are Laguna Capri and Mirador Laguna Torre, both of which have great views.

When the tour guide got back, she brought us our lunch packs and took us to the starting point of the trek.

It got warmer I could finally get just a "short-sleeve" tee on

Lago Capri was my final destination of this trek.

So wonderful to spot a woodpecker at just few feets away.

It was black with a white line on its back, and a reddish orange face

It poked the wood repeatedly with loud noise

Cerro Fitz Roy

The soaring granite towers of Mount Fitz Roy rise up from the smooth baize of the flat steppe, more like a ziggurat than a mountain, surrounded by a consort of jagged snow-clad spires, with a stack of spun-cotton clouds hanging constantly above them.  Cerro Fitz roy (3405m) towers above the nearby peaks, its polished granite sides too steep for snow to settle.

I was ahead of others when reaching Lago Capri.  I picked a nice place for having my lunch. This little bird jumped around

I could have my lunch with this spectacular view

I felt cold after taking rest for a while.  A piece of alfajores was included in my lunch pack

I then took the other path to get back

Different foreground to stitch on Friz Roy

Lots of hawks/eagles in the sky, it turned to blue sky

I then took another trek for the waterfall

It follows Río De las Vueltas

Beautiful clouds on the sky
