Third day of trek in 百內國家公園 Parque Nacional Torres del Paine 22.11.2018 - Part 1

There was rain in the night and got really cold.  Fortunately I had brought with me a handy picnic blanket and I wrapped my legs with it to keep warm.  I woke up once due to coldness and I grabbed my fleece jacket to cover my neck and shoulder for better protection.  My teammate told that she felt cold even staying in the refugio.

It was an early start of the day - have breakfast at 6:30 a.m. as it should be a long day, to hike up the French Valley to the Britainico Lookout with about 800m ascending.  However, my legs were sore and I could not afford the steep hike.  I decided to drop this climb and this could save me several hours.  After breakfast, I got back to my tent and had time to tidy up stuff.  I departed at around 9:00, nearly the last few to leave the site.

My tent (#17) was a green one on the forth row

The path cut across the site, one end towards Campermento Cuerno and the other end led to Campamento Italiano

There was still light rain

Lots of signs in the trek and it was difficult to get lost

It was an half-an-hour walk to Campamento Italiano and a lady led me the way

At Campamento Italiano, hikers deposited their bags here at the rack such that they could reach the height in light.

Scary wood leading upward

I asked for direction from a staff at the campamento, not far I spot the sign showing the direction

Rio del Frances

Not far up I reached the Mirador Glaciar del Frances - a glacier at the opposite side of the valley

Sight to look up for the highest point

Sight to look down

The sun shone and the skyline on top revealed

At that point, I abandoned to go up but turned back instead, focus on the plantation on the ground

Fresh berries.  When getting to the Rio del Frances, I tried to get some vantage points for a better picture of the glacier.

As I missed the spot, Mirador Britanico could only been seen in other's blog, like Henry's one :
