I took the 9:50am bus to Maya Centre (after Independence) that I had plenty of time for breakfast (at Grace's again).
A sunny morning on the Southern Highway
Maya Center
At the junction of the Southern Hwy and the access road to Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, it was established in the 1980s to relocate Mopan Maya villagers when the sanctuary was proclaimed.
There are two guesthouses in the village, as well as the Maya homestay program. One is the Aurora & Ernesto's Nu'uk Che'il Cottages and the other Tuzil Nah Cottages. I stayed at the latter.
Tuzil Nah Cottages
It is on the Hwy, just 100yd north of the Maya Center junction. The Chun brothers offer 4 clean rooms in houses in stilts decked out in basic Maya style.
View outside my room

Another guesthouse - Nu'uk Che'il Cottages
Then it rained throughout the afternoon, rainbow showed when it stopped near 5:00 pm.
It was a fascinating experience to go for a night safari - enter Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary after dark - watch pairs of eyes in red for those mammals and birds. It is a famous jaguar sanctuary, and also one of biggest protected area in Belize.
