After the morning tour, I took an afternoon nap and got up at dusk.

Smallish rooms line a long veranda facing a pool with a rock garden and adjacent lake-view deck for sunset dining.

Food at Las Mesitas
Every evening, but especially Sundays, there's a street party on the waterfront promenade, as local families fix enchiladas (actually tostadas topped with guacamole, chicken salad and so on), tacos and tamales, and dispense fruity drinks from giant jugs. All kind of cakes and puddings are served, too. Everyone sits on plastic chairs or low barrier walls or even on stairs.
I got to the promenade and visited Las Mesitas and bought the giant empanada and lime juice for dinner. However, I could not finish them as I did not feel well, some kind of dizziness and nausea, and vomitted all I got into my stomach. With nothing I could do to cast this uneasiness away, I got into bed at once.
Feeling better in the morning, I could take breakfast at the restaurant and go out for a stroll.
With the cubist houses cascading down from a central plaza to the emerald waters of Lago de Peten Itza, the island town of Flores evokes a Mediterranean ambience.

Flores is great for strolling, especially along the lakefront promenade that rings the islet.
