Lima was founded in 1535 by the Spanish conquistador Francisco Piazarro, who name it Ciudad de los Reyes - City of Kings.  For two centuries after its foundation, Lima was the political, commercial, and ecclesiastical capital of Spanish South America, and the seat of the Inquisition as well as of the viceroys.

A powerful earthquake in 1746 destroyed much of the city, and the palaces, churches, mansions, and monasteries we see today were subsequently rebuilt and expanded.

I chose to stay at 1900 Backpackers Hostel which is a historical building in Lima.  Brief description as follows -
