In Peru's cultural and political center, experience some of the best dining in the Americas, vibrant night-life, and great museums and churches. See the Cathedral and the catacombs at he Iglesia de San Francisco, and stroll about Miraflores for shops and eats.
However, I could only afford 1.5 days here. That's why I stayed at the historical centre - 1900 Backpackers Hostel. It got an unbeatable location, just opposite to Museum of Art of Lima - MALI.
With ease of mind, I arranged pick-up service at the airport. After settled, I walked all the way to Mercado Central. However, I reached Centro Comercial La Concepción. It was really an interesting place that all kinds of stuff could be found near the region.
Mercado Central
Its hundreds of vendors display the ingredients of the city's varied cuisine, including hooks hung with slabs of meat and poultry and trays piled high with seafood. Wheels of cheese are stacked above tubs of olives, open sacks hold everything from dried potato chunks to aji peppers, and bundles of spices lie next to natural remedies.
The market was near to Barrio Chino, China Town. It's heard there was many Chinese here in Lima. However, I lost my way but finally locate the place and I tried to find a restaurant to dine.
Songs of Teresa Teng 鄧麗君 (a famous / signature singer from Taiwan that her songs were heard or enjoyed by Chinese all over the world) were played there. A taste of Chino - a set of 15.9 SOL but of quite large portion. I could not finish though.
It seems that all workers and customers to the Chifa are not Chinese. At least they don't look like Chinese. But they could recognise me and pass me a Chinese menu.
From a documentary by RTHK, I finally know that Chifa means "Open Rice" in Chinese. Interesting that many Chinese practices influence this Sul American country.
